Bali is a volcanic island, and its hot springs, called air panas, are found mostly in the cooler mountains and the quieter north.
Kintamani and Lake Batur
The village of Toya Bungkah, on the shore of Lake Batur below Mount Batur, has several hot spring pool complexes, the best known being Toya Devasya. The pools look across the lake to the volcano and are a popular finish to the sunrise hike up Mount Batur.
Air Panas Banjar
Near Lovina on the north coast, Air Panas Banjar has stone pools in a tropical garden, where warm water pours from carved spouts. It is a sacred site, so dress modestly near temple areas.
Banyuwedang
Banyuwedang, near Pemuteran in north-west Bali, has hot springs at the edge of the sea and mangroves, with a small bathing area used by locals and nearby resorts.
Angseri
Angseri, in the hills near Bedugul, has warm pools in a quiet jungle valley.
Tips
