Types of hot springs
Every listing is sorted into one of four types, based on what has been built at the site. The type tells you a lot about cost, comfort and how prepared you need to be.
61Hot springs resorts and spasLodging, spa services and managed pools fed by thermal water. Easiest access, usually the highest price.631Developed hot springs pools and bathhousesBuilt pools, tubs or bathhouses run by a business, town or park. Expect an entry fee, opening hours and changing rooms.594Natural hot springsA named thermal source with little or no building. Some have rock pools, others are too hot or too shallow to soak in.3Primitive and wild hot springsNo staff, no facilities and no maintained access. Conditions change with the seasons. Leave no trace.
